Take the Edge Off on Chilly Nights Without Smelling Like Smoke
This Chehalis homeowner enjoys having get-togethers with friends and family in the evenings on his rural property, but needed something more formal than just putting chairs out on the lawn. He also wanted to take the edge off once the sun goes down. He approached us about building a patio and matching firepit, and this is the solution we built for him.
The brick firepit includes dual wood boxes to keep an ample supply of wood dry and ready to use on chilly nights. We designed the matching paver patio with a pathway that leads from the backyard patio to add continuity. The patio is built from Jamestown Blend pavers from Western Interlock.
Many firepits are round and designed for people to sit on all sides like a campfire. However, with this open design it's harder to control the direction of the smoke, and so most people leave smelling like a they've been well cooked. Instead, this fire pit is designed more like an indoor fireplace, including a short chimney and a closed back. The effect is more like sitting in an outdoor den. Smoke is carried up and away from the patio, making the experience more enjoyable.
If you want to create a unique outdoor environment to entertain family and guests and like the feeling and aesthetics of an open fire, consider a closed fire pit from AJB Landscaping & Fence. We can also build outdoor barbeques. We can design these structures as stand-alone items, build them to match an existing or new patio. They add character to your home and can increase your property value.
