Cedar Deck with Built-In Seating Transforms This Rural Home
When Terry Bodette needed her deck replaced, there was no question who she was going to call: Aaron Borden, the owner of AJB Landscaping & Fence. "Can't think of anything other than how proud we are of Aaron and his achievements," she told us. "Been on his journey since he was in high school and are so proud of him in every way!!"
The old deck, which was over 20 years old, was in serious need of an overhaul. We tore down the existing deck boards but were able to reuse most of the original frame. In addition to fixing the frame sections that needed repair, we added a new section.
We then installed a brand new cedar deck, using stainless steel screws. Using screws instead of nails is a bit more expensive, but well worth the cost because it fastens down the boards more firmly, preventing warping. We then finished the project with matching cedar benches, providing plenty of room for the family and guests to enjoy the Bodette's lush, green backyard.
One additional feature of note: The Bodette's backyard includes a water feature, and the water controls were under the deck. To make access easier, we created a trap door, making it much more convenient to turn off the water for maintenance.
Terry is thrilled with the results. "Thank You so much Aaron and Crew!!! We absolutely LOVE it!!!!! Soooo many compliments!!!!!"
