This was a huge project so we took a ton of pictures!

Working with the terrain in South Puget Sound can be a challenge and this property illustrates that fact well.

Most of the time, when we build a large retaining wall like this, we're building in the backyard to handle a property that slopes either up or downhill. In this unique situation, the entire property is set back on a downslope. To make things even more difficult, the street is on a steep incline.

We built this multi-tier retaining wall to work with the existing hillside while creating a large, top tier level with the road at the top of the hill to provide RV and boat parking. Leveling off the parking area took a tremendous amount of fill. Our extensive background with excavation and grading certainly came in handy with this job!

The parking area is secured with an iron fence treated with a black powder-coat finish. The gated fence keeps the owner's valuable recreation vehicles safe and secure.

A retaining wall this size requires multiple tiers to meet construction codes. It also helps to break up the wall into more aesthetically appealing components. We built this wall as two tiers and at the top of the lower tier included planter beds for flowers and shrubs. We're sure the foliage looks awesome now that it's more mature.

The security fence borders the retaining wall on the side closest to the house so it also made sense to build a stairway into the wall leading up to the parking area. At the top of the stairs is a second gate.
