Tumbled Pavers Bring a Fresh New Look to This South Sound Rambler

Steve Adams was looking to give his backyard a facelift. His backyard concrete patio was old and cracked. After talking with Aaron at AJB Landscaping & Fence, he decided to replace the concrete slab with a paver patio.

Aaron and his crew removed the old patio and adjoining sidewalk leading to the carport and installed Western Interlock Roca style tumbled pavers.

You can see what a dramatic effect the new patio has on the backyard. We made the new patio larger than the original so there is more room to entertain. We also replaced the step with pavers to match.

One of the reasons pavers are popular in South Puget Sound is they "breathe." In a wet climate like ours, erosion of the soil and changing conditions put added stress on concrete, making it more likely to crack over time. Pavers avoid these problems because each stone is able to move and shift under changing conditions. Also, because pavers sit on a layer of gravel and are held in place with sand in between them, rainwater is able to drain through. And if a paver becomes damaged, you can replace the individual paver.

Steve is very happy with the results of his new paver patio. This is the second job we have done for him. He has been impressed with our high level of customer service, and commented on our Facebook page that he "won't go anywhere else again."
