Ornamental Aluminum Fence with Swing Gates

Aluminum fence with swing gateThis aluminum fence is lighter than steel or wrought iron and will never rust. It's a great option for homeowners looking for a metal fence with less maintenance.

Lighter than steel and it will never rust!

This West Olypmia customer was interested in a more traditional, stately look for their fence than wood. We worked with them to create this aluminum ornamental perimeter fence, complete with swing gates. This attractive specialty fence encloses their entire backyard - the total length is over 300 feet!

For customers who elect to construct a metal fence, there are number of material options. Traditionally, metal fences have been built out of wrought iron. This type of fence is still widely built today and we install our fair share of them. The downsides are that they are the most expensive to build, are very heavy and require regular painting to prevent rust. We often install iron fences with a powder-painted coating to prolong their life, but still, if any of the iron becomes exposed, it can quickly rust if it isn't repainted.

Steel is a less expensive option than iron. While it's lighter, it doesn't have that traditional wrought-iron look some people are after. And like iron, steel fences can rust and require paint and maintenance.

The third option, which this West Olympia customer chose, is aluminum. As a fence installer, it's lighter and easier for us to work with than steel or iron. In addition, aluminum will not rust, so while paint will improve the fence aesthetically, nicks and scratches won't require painting to preserve it. That means less frequent maintenance.

In the past, aluminum fences were more expensive than steel. However, we have a supplier that can provide aluminum fencing for a similar cost.

Which type of metal fence you choose is a personal decision depending on your aesthetic perferences, maintenance requirements and cost. But if you're looking for an option that is less expensvie that wrought iron and requires minimal maintenance, an almuminum fence might be just the thing for you.
